Position in Plano, Texas for Director of Engineering

Job Description:

Analyzing technology, resources and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects. Directing and managing progress against project schedules and budgets. Communicating with other departments, offices, factories, and vendors. Directing, reviewing, and approving product design and changes. Managing engineering specifications with customers. Attending trade shows and conferences to research latest trends in technology. Researching competitive information and data. Conducting, organizing, and implementing engineering training. Supporting sales team to identify and create opportunities for additional revenue and profit within established accounts and also new accounts. Provide feedback to upper management on customer needs and requirements. Domestic and International travel required up to 20% of time.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field and three (3) years of mechanical and optical design experience.

Three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Designing optical and mechanical products in 3D CAD program
  • Optical Components and Sub-Systems Designs
  • Manage at least a full cycle of a new product design to market cycle
  • Managing international engineering team with remote locations
  • Managing a full scope of customer qualification processes, including testing and factory audits, working with sales, factory and the customer

Will accept five (5) years of mechanical and optical design experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of mechanical and optical design experience.

40 hours/week, 8:00am-5:00pm.
